Frequently
Asked Questions
Below is a list of
questions that prospective customers usually ask
us, take a look and let us help you put your mind
at rest. If you can't find the answers to your queries
please contact us by telephone or from our contact
page where we wil endeavour to respond to you
within the working day.
Do
you only do Fixed Module sizes?
No, all openings for windows, conservatories and
doors will differ in size and shape therefore all
frames must be made to fit the exact size of the
opening to within a couple of millimetres. At DWL
we manufacture all our own products in house from
our own measurements to fit precisely.
When constructing a
conservatory do you do the whole project i.e. electrics,
plumbing, planning, building application etc?
Yes, we will effectively take over as a site manager
would handle a building site. We have our own in-house
surveyors who calculate the sizes of the whole works
and produce technical drawings. He will also apply
for planning permission should it be required. We
have several teams of bricklayers, plumbers, electricians
who are constantly employed us and we will not ask
for full payment until we have completed the job.
Why are some companies
more expensive than others? How much does a conservatory/windows
cost?
There are many reasons that different companies
charge different prices for what seem to be the
same products. However when taking a closer look,
the better product will be instantly recognisable.
DWL pride ourselves on using the leading product
materials
in the market this is why we do not compete on price
with inferior products.

out more about the material we use.
Are your installation
teams all in-house?
All installation and service teams are all in-house
and work only for ourselves. This has been a key
to our success as we have maintained a most of our
teams throughout the years, after all, the product
is worthless if it is not fitted correctly and with
care.
Will I need planning
permission?
Planning permission is dependent on many factors
including house type/age, area, size of conservatory,
previous works carried out (extensions) to name
but a few. Our consultants should be able to answer
this question before they measure up. However we
have full time experienced surveyors in-house who
will take this worry away and plan for you on your
behalf.
How long will it take?
Windows and Doors: this can take
anywhere between 4-8 weeks depending on how busy
we are, what products are ordered, location etc
Conservatories: this can take on
average around 8-12 weeks from the day the contract
is signed. Here is a rough schedule of works for
an average installation:
3-4 weeks - surveying, customer approval of technical
drawings
2-3 weeks - to book a date for basework
1-2 weeks - base laying
2 weeks - finishing: (windows, roof, plumbing, electrics,
screeding plastering etc)
(Add 4-8 weeks should planning permission be required)
My friends conservatory
leaks, will mine?
The question you should be asking is “How
long did it take them to repair the leak? DWL uses
the leading supplier of conservatory roofs in Europe
(Ultraframe). The roofing system is undoubtedly
the market leader however it still needs to be correctly
installed. Despite this we endeavour to attend service
calls as quickly as possible and pride ourselves
on our after sales service.
Have you done any installations
around here?
Good question – always find out if there is
an installation of ours in your area. We regularly
arrange for our clients to view our previous installations
and ask the opinions of our previous customers (what
better way is there to find out about us?). If this
is not possible why not visit our showsite at Highgrove
Garden Centre.
Do
you charge to come out and look at the job?
No, we do not charge. The most professional way
to proceed is to undertake a site visit, take measurements,
discuss appropriate materials and then provide an
accurate quotation.
Will
I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. We will require 25%* of the agreed price prior
to commencement of order. You will immediately receive
an insurance-backed warranty which protects your
investment.
*except for certain finance packages where no deposit
is required
What
time will the fitters start and finish?
Generally we work from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to
Friday and on Saturdays if required to finish an
installation.
Your terms state payment
on completion, explain what this means.
We wish to be paid promptly. However, you are at
liberty to inspect our work closely before payment.
No pressure for payment will be applied by our installers.
